The 'baroque' style emerged in Italy at the beginning of the 17th century, soon spreading across Europe. We explore this period of great invention and creativity, unearthing on the way some hidden jewels of the repertoire. In particular, the programme includes rarely-performed pieces for 3 sopranos as well as duets and solo arias. Not surprisingly, the Three Graces of Venus feature in a couple of these trios!

We include works by Luzzaschi (closely associated with the famous 'Concerto delle donne' at the court of Ferrara), Strozzi, Monteverdi, Lambert, Merula and Notari, with solo arias and duets too.

The performance will take place in the Italianate cloister with the Peto Gardens at Iford Manor.
