The Jordanian Palestinian pianist Iyad Sughayer has already performed numerous recitals and concertos across the Middle East and the UK. Iyad has been a soloist with orchestras such as the European Chamber Orchestra, The Manchester Camerata, The Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra, The Prague Youth Orchestra of the Premiere Music College, The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, The Amman Symphony Orchestra and other festival orchestras. Iyad has been featured in many magazines and newspapers in the UK and the Middle East as well as being interviewed on The Jordanian National Television, Aljazeera and the MBC networks.

Playing the piano since the age of five, Iyad received his first lessons from the pianist, conductor and composer Mohammad Sidiq in Amman. He made his first concerto appearance at the age of eight with the National Music Conservatory Orchestra. In 2008, he continued his piano studies at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music –UK. Subsequently, Iyad was the recipient of many prizes and awards including winning the Chetham’s and RNCM concerto competitions, and most recently awarded the Overall Winner of the EPTA UK piano competition. Since September 2012, Iyad continues his piano studies with the distinguished Scottish pianist Dr. Murray McLachlan at the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester-UK receiving a full scholarship.

Sughayer’s wide repertoire Includes works by celebrated composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Medtner, Schubert and Schumann as well as some unfairly neglected composers like Khachaturian, EL-Khoury and McLeod. His most recent performances have taken place in such prestigious venues and cities including The Bridgewater Hall/Manchester, Pump Rooms/Bath, Commonwealth Institute/ Edinburgh, The Austrian Cultural Institute/ London, the Reform Club/London, Steinway Hall/ London and St Martin in the Fields/London. Future engagements include recitals and concerto appearances throughout the UK, Germany, Jordan, Palestine and the UAE. The upcoming performances include Khachaturian’s Piano Concerto with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra and his German debut recital in the Laeiszhalle Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
