Born in Moscow and brought up in Australia, Andrey Lebedev is a postgraduate of the Royal Academy of Music. In 2012 he became the only Australian to win first prize in the Adelaide International Guitar Competition. He has given world premieres of music by the Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe and the Cuban composer Leo Brouwer; both are represented in this concert, along with works for classical guitar by Albeniz and Villa-Lobos and a suite originally for lute by J S Bach.
