We open the Festival with an extended concert featuring the world premiere of a brand new work for tenor and string quartet by Jonathan Dove. Dove's new work 'In Damascus' is a cantata, setting words by the Syrian poet Ali Safar, who with piercing eloquence and deep humanity distills the harowing experiences of daily life in a war-torn country.
