In aid of Help for Heroes, this concert features the chamber music of Michael Lawson - in styles ranging from contemporary classical to modern jazz.
Michael, a former pupil of Nadia Boulanger (teacher and mentor of Stravinsky, Copland, Bernstein Barenboim, and many others) has written a wide range of orchestral and chamber music.
Award winning soloists for this World War One Memorial Concert include international known pianists Alisdair Hogarth, Grace Yeo; violinist, Rebecca Dinning; cellist, Robin Thompson-Clarke; soprano, Joyce Hogarth; the Guildhall School of Music’s Langham String Quintet; and the young saxophonist, Rob Burton.
Actor, Russell Boulter presents war poetry of Wilfred Owen. All Souls Director of Music, Noel Tredinnick, will host the evening.
The concert includes the first performances of Michael's Flute concerto, three jazz pieces for saxophone and piano, and War Sonatas for violin and cello, as well as other chamber works.
