After three highly successful Festivals in 2013, 2014 and 2015, which focused exclusively on the music of Brahms, Schubert and Mendelssohn respectively, the fourth Whittington International Chamber Music Festival will provide an 'immersion experience' in the wonderful music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From 17 - 22 May, our sixteen international artists will play six concerts in this delightful Shropshire village. The church has a perfect acoustic and a good view from all pews - uninterrupted by pillars. James Barralet (cellist) is our Artistic Director. This year he will be joined by fifteen other musicians, all of the same international calibre. Between them all, they represent eight nationalities - UK, USA, France, Serbia, Holland, Germany, Latvia and Hungary.
Schools workshops will be taking place on Thursday 19th May, followed by a special concert for schools at 1.15pm.
The musicians will also provide a workshop and performance at Oswestry Borders U3A on Wednesday 18th May at 1.45pm
The documentary maker, Phil Grabsky, will show his film 'In Search of Mozart' on Friday 20 May at 12.30pm at the Kinculture cinema, SY11 1JN, 9 Arthur Street, Oswestry followed by questions and answers with the audience (tickets £6. 01691 238167)
