Mozart's Requiem | London Concert Choir

Mozart’s profound and poignant setting of the Requiem Mass is complemented by two other late works. The radiant 39th Symphony was the first of his final trio of symphonies; its key of E flat major was associated in the composer’s time with love and solemnity. The devotional motet Ave Verum Corpus was written for the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1791. Less than six months later Mozart was dead, leaving the unfinished Requiem to be completed by his pupil Süssmayr.
