During a prolific period in the mid-1940s Britten encountered the extraordinary, newly-rediscovered poetry of Christopher Smart and composed one of his finest choral works, Rejoice in the Lamb. A concert of magnificent 20th-century music for choir and organ, there are masterpieces by Leighton, Walton, Janácek and Parry, whose glorious anthem was written for the coronation of King Edward VII.
