Harrogate International Festivals is proud to present the Flanders Symphony Orchestra as part of the 50th Harrogate Festival.
For over fifty years, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra has been a beacon of the Flemish orchestral landscape, now led by the renowned conductor Jan Latham-Koenig. Performing with one of today’s most successful British pianists, Freddy Kempf, the 50th Harrogate Festival finale concert closes with a programme featuring a wealth of great symphonic music.
Reflecting this year’s theme, a Sense of Place, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra takes us to their home land with Franck’s Symphonic Variations, bringing a truly Flemish feel to the heart of Harrogate. Closing the concert is Brahms’s Symphony No 1, a piece which first placed Brahms at the forefront of the successors to Beethoven. The symphony itself closes with a great affirmative and triumphant Finale, a fitting end to the 50th Harrogate Festival.
