Described as an ‘exceptionally talented and charismatic pianist’, Maria Razumovskaya’s performances combine the ‘intensely alluring sound-world’ of her interpretations with a sensitive musical intelligence and innate capacity for expression.
Avoiding the piano competition circuit, Razumovskaya has performed extensively around the United Kingdom in venues including London’s St John Smith’s Square, Cadogan Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James’s Piccadilly, Southbank Centre, as well as in Europe including the ‘Cully Classique' Festival in Switzerland.
Razumovskaya received her pianistic training in the class of Rustem Hayroudinoff at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Subsequently, she undertook further studies with Professor Dmitri Alexeev as an AHRC scholar at the Royal College of Music.
Whilst a student, Razumovskaya received advice in masterclasses from pianists including Pascal Devoyon, Felix Gottlieb, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Emanuel Krasovsky, Boris Petrushansky, Stanislav Pochekin and Tamás Ungár.
Razumovskaya’s doctorate, which looks at the pianist-pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus and his attitude to interpretation and aesthetics, was supervised at the Royal College of Music by Dr Natasha Loges, Professor Dr Amanda Glauert, Professor Dmitri Alexeev, and Professor Geoffrey Norris.
Maria is also a keen chamber music player and has engaged in on-going collaborations with various instrumentalists and singers as well as setting up the Skazki Piano Trio.
