  1. Façade - Sir William Walton

William Walton's witty and sparkling Façade comes to life with Radio 4 regulars Joanna Tope and Crawford Logan negotiating the complete extant numbers – including poems that were intended for Façade that were never set, or were lost. Walton’s extraordinary collaboration with poet Edith Sitwell encompasses a huge range of styles from popular song to Stravinsky, from tangos to bitonality, and it is this mélange of quick-changing style that makes the work as exciting to play as it is to listen to. All the well-known numbers such as ‘Sir Beelzebub’, ‘Scotch Rhapsody’, ‘Old Sir Faulk’, ‘Yodelling Song’ and ‘Aubade’ are included in this fabulous concert.

"Massively entertaining and exquisitely executed" Byre Theatre, St. Andrews
"Very funny and musically brilliant" East Lothian Courier
"Auricle wowed..." 3weeks.com, Edinburgh Festival
"Mr Walton's music is as original and witty as Miss Sitwell's poetry" Daily Mail, June 1923
