Fauré's Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria | La Nova Singers

Dorset choir La Nova Singers will bring to life two of the most iconic works of the classical choral repertoire when they perform the Fauré Requiem and Vivaldi's Gloria in the beautiful acoustic of St Ambrose Church. The all-female ensemble, whose performances have been noted for their 'dynamic intensity' and 'bright vocal tone', will be singing rarely-heard arrangements of the popular pieces in a concert which forms part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations.

Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is known for its serenity, and contains the well-known pieces 'Pie Jesu' and 'In Paradisum'. Its lush harmonies offer audiences a vision of heaven, complete with angelic chorus. Acclaimed Weymouth musician Duncan Honeybourne will accompany the choir on organ.

A more celebratory theme can be found in Vivaldi's Gloria, where the composer's ear for a catchy melody is evident in sprightly pieces such as 'Domine Fili Unigenite', 'Laudemus Te' and the eponymous 'Gloria in excelsis Deo'. The singers will here be accompanied by a string ensemble.
