  1. Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture - Pyotr Tchaikovsky
  2. Concerto for Saxophone and Strings in E flat Op 109 - Aleksandr Konstantinovich Glazunov
  3. Symphony No 2 in B minor - Alexander Borodin

This autumn's concert has a Russian theme, with two more or less contemporary compositions by Borodin and Tchaikovsky being written an published in the 1870s and a more modern piece by Glazunov written in 1934 and sadly never heard performed by its composer.

The orchestra is pleased to be able to welcome back Sam Corkin as soloist for the Saxophone Concerto by Glazunov.

Sam studied music at King’s College – London, the Royal Academy of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he holds a Masters in Advanced Performance and was awarded an Artist Fellowship in his final year. he holds a teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Music and has taught extensively in the South-East of England. Sam last played with us in July 2012 when he played Eric Coates's Saxophone Rhapsody.
