Presented by the Royal Academy of Music
Formed in September 2012 by four musicians at the Royal Academy of Music, the Halcyon Quartet, under the tutelage of Martin Outram, has quickly established itself as a passionate, engaging and dedicated ensemble. As well as twice being granted a place on the Academy’s prestigious Davey Poznanski Quartet Scheme, the group have also been awarded a number of performance opportunities and masterclasses with high-profiled musicians and ensembles. Recently they have worked with Sylvia Rosenberg, Levon Chilingirian, Garfield Jackson, Richard Ireland and the Escher, Skampa, Chilingirian, Doric, RTE Vanbrugh and Wihan Quartets.
In the past year they have performed the works of a diverse range of composers, from Purcell and Haydn, for the Academy's 400+ Concert and Prussian Series, to the music of contemporary composer Stephen Montague, with whom they collaborated to perform his work 'After Ives'.
Engagements in 2015 include performing for the Halesworth Music Society and representing the Academy in the Intercollegiate Quartet Competition at the Greenwich International String Quartet Festival.
