Following his sell-out Music at Oxford concert in 2011, David Miller returns to the Holywell Music Room, performing and telling his instrument’s story through a programme of works by two great virtuoso lutenists of the late Renaissance and Baroque periods, John Dowland and Silvius Leopold Weiss.

English Renaissance composer John Dowland was one of the finest lutenists of his time, whose beguiling compositions for the lute have endured throughout the centuries. Though perhaps less- known today, Silvius Leopold Weiss wrote prolifically for the instrument in the 18th Century, and one of his lute Suites was even transcribed for violin and harpsichord by J S Bach.
