Continuing Neil Crossland's brilliant cycle of all 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas as part of the Ruislip and Harrow Music Festival. Tonight's concert features two of Beethoven's most popular and memorable creations for the piano. The famous Sonata No.14 nicknamed 'Moonlight' needs no introduction. There is also the beguiling 'Tempest' Op.17 and popular No.28 in A major. Contrast that with the youthful virtuosic No.2 and No. 12 with it's variations and famous funeral march. It promises to be another great concert full of contrasts.

Neil Crossland grew up in Yorkshire and now lives in Ruislip. He studied at the Royal College of Music where he won major prizes in piano and composition. Neil has performed extensively at home and abroad including many major London venues – the Barbican, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St John’s Smith Square, St Martin’s in the Fields, Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room. He performed all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas at St James’ Piccadilly.

His recordings include the complete Beethoven sonatas, Haydn, Schumann, Liszt, Rachmaninov and music by the late Sir Patrick Moore. Neil has appeared on radio and TV playing live on BBC Radio 3 and 4.

If Beethoven had not written all his piano music for himself in mind he might happily have written it for Neil Crossland The Guardian
