Internationally acclaimed for its mastery of early music, The Sixteen comes to Oxford with a programme centred around three of the greatest Franco-Flemish composers of the Renaissance: Josquin, Jean Mouton and Orlande Lassus. Alongside these, the group looks at the way in which composers old and new have interpreted the classic themes of Christmas: lullaby, testimony to the Virgin mother and King Herod's response to the birth of Jesus.

Opening with 'This Is The Truth From Above' arranged by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and including favourites like the Coventry Carol, the evening promises to be both intellectually stimulating and a perfect start to the festive season.

The Sixteen performs throughout Europe, Japan, Australia and the Americas. At home they are 'The Voices of Classic FM' and Assistant Artists of the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. The group also promotes The Choral Pilgrimage, an annual tour of Britain's finest cathedrals bringing music back to the buildings for which it was composed.
