Into the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness with Autumn Fancies, a Gala evening of music presented to raise money for the charity Music for Autism. With tonight's concert featuring soprano, mezzo-soprano and countertenor voices in solo and duet works spanning several centuries there's something to suit all musical tastes!

Remodelled in the 1970's the delightful Grade II* listed church of St Helen's in Benson, South Oxfordshire dates back to the 12th century and forms a fitting backdrop for an evening of music featuring an eclectic selection of works by diverse composers, from Handel to Quilter, from Offenbach to Cole Porter, from Mozart to Flanders and Swann!

Showcasing talented local singers, all pupils of the renowned Oxfordshire-based mezzo soprano and teacher Christine Cairns, accompanied by the award-winning pianist Jonathan French, funds raised tonight will go to the charity Music for Autism that she started some years ago with her husband John Lubbock, Artistic Director of the Orchestra of St Johns. The money goes directly to specifc projects to help autistic children and young people like their son Alexander and also towards presenting concerts exclusively for the autistic and their families, using the power of music to reach across the communication barriers.

Tickets include a post-concert reception with wine and refreshments when there will also be an opportunity to meet and talk with Christine and the performers as well as learn more about the charity. So, why not come along, support this great cause, give your ears a treat and enjoy an Autumn Fancy or two!
