WSO, the professional orchestra of West Sussex open their season with Elgar's ebullient concert overture Froissart. An exhuberant work close in spirit to the Pomp & Circumstance marches. WSO concerts are renowned for high quality music making coupled with succinct introductions from Principal conductor John Gibbons that are designed to enhance the listening experience of both the newcomer to classical music and our many loyal supporters.
Nicola Benedetti returns to the wonderful Assembly Hall, Worthing to play Bruch's ever-popular Violin Concerto in G minor. Nicola has captivated audiences and critics alike with her musicality and poise.She has a remarkable ability to communicate and enthral audiences with dynamic and energy-filled performances.Throughout her career, Nicola's desire to perform a broad variety of repertoire and reach a wide audience has shown her to be one of Britain's most innovative and creative young violinists.
Dvorak's seventh symphony, a powerful work full of melody, infectious Czech dance rhythms and vibrant orchestral volour, is his finest symphony and rounds off this opening concert in splendid style.
