The Orion Symphony Orchestra is one of the brightest stars in the firmament of British music and musicians. Under its charismatic conductor, Toby Purser, it promotes inspirational young professional musicians, including soloists, conductors and composers as well as the cream of the UK's young orchestral talent. The orchestra is committed to the rediscovery of neglected masterpieces, especially those of British composers, while its repertoire embraces a wide range of both European and world cultures.

The discovery here is Walford Davies' charming fantasy "Big Ben Looks On", composed for the celebrations for the Coronation of King George VI. It is dedicated to the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose, and the whole fantasy is framed between two charming little tunes – one for each of the dedicatees.

This concert is given in aid of The St Lazarus Charitable Trust which raises money for the relief of leprosy victims throughout the world.
