A cycle of Schubert’s major piano sonatas (4 of 4)

Tim’s spellbinding exploration of Schubert’s works for solo piano concludes with an unmissable trilogy of Sonatas. Written in 1828, the year of the composer’s death, they have been described as a window to Schubert’s complex character and supreme abilities.

“This is a programme of Schubert that I’ve always wanted to perform. Along with Schubert’s String Quintet and Winterreise, these pieces are the culmination of a life cut tragically short. They convey such a complexity of emotion from great joy, anger, tenderness and lyricism to, at times, chaos and devastation.” Tim Horton

Post-concert conversation - Tim Horton discusses the importance of Schubert’s piano music with BBC Radio 3’s Tom McKinney, with opportunities for audience questions.
