Join the Godwine Choir for an evening of music and poetry by female writers and composers to celebrate International Women's Day 2018. The programme features little-heard masterworks from the past seven centuries, from Hildegard von Bingen to Kerry Andrew. This concert will lift your spirits at the start of spring, in the magnificent surroundings of St. Michael's Church, just a short walk from Highgate tube station.

The concert will run for 1 hour without an interval. Wine will be served after the concert.

Founded in 2014 by graduates from the University of Cambridge, the Godwine Choir has established itself as one of London's most dynamic and versatile chamber choirs.

The choir is based in St. George the Martyr, Borough, where they sing Eucharist every fourth Sunday of the month. They give regular concerts at leading London venues as well as further afield, with recent performances in Sherborne Abbey, St Matthew's Northampton, and Brussels Cathedral. In 2016, the choir was shortlisted for Choir of the Year.

Last season's highlights include a performance of music by Finzi, Tippett and Holst in Dorchester Abbey as part of the English Music Festival and a concert of early music in St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate. The choir also made their first recording, featuring little-known works by Gustav Holst and George Dyson, due for release in early 2018.

Although the choir's repertoire is diverse, they have a particular interest in English a capella music from the 20th and 21st centuries. They have performed works by a number of contemporary composers, such as Gabriel Jackson, Jonathan Rathbone, Cecilia McDowall and Malcolm Hawkins. In 2014, they recorded the world premiere of Roderick Williams' Christmas Bells for the Financial Times.

The choir tours both in the UK and abroad, most recently visiting Belgium to sing in Brussels Cathedral and St Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent. Plans for the 2018 season include a return to the English Music Festival, a concert of choral works by female composers and a tour of Prague.

The Godwine Choir is available to hire for weddings, services, corporate and charity events. They are proud to have performed for the English Speaking Union, Minor Metals Trade Association and Bliss among several others.
