An evening of piano duet music in our Pre-Raphaelite gallery. We are delighted to welcome pianists Julian Jacobson and Mariko Brown to Manchester Art Gallery.

Alongside Debussy and Schubert, this talented duo will be playing the premiere of a piece of music by composer, Edward Lambert, inspired by the painting ‘Work’ by Ford Madox Brown, a highlight in our Pre-Raphaelite collection.

As part of the evening you can meet our curators, Rebecca and Hannah, and view pencil sketches made by Ford Madox Brown in preparation for his painting.

Outline of the evening:
5.30-6.30pm Meet the curators and view ‘Work’ sketches by Ford Madox Brown

6:30pm Julian and Mariko play:
Schubert - Rondo in A, D951, for piano duet
Debussy - 'Khamma' (ballet), for piano duet

7.05pm Interval

7:20pm Edward Lambert, composer introduces ‘Aspects of Work’
followed by the world premiere of Edward Lambert's 'Aspects of Work', for piano duet.
