One of London's leading chamber choirs, The Purcell Singers is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019. They are marking the occasion with a performance of one of the masterpieces of romantic choral music: Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem.
In stark contrast with the traditional Latin mass for the dead, Brahms's Requiem is a setting of seven passages from scripture that he chose himself in order to communicate a positive and optimistic message of consolation, hope and joy to come. This performance will use the composer's own arrangement of the work for piano duet - four hands, one piano.
