The £340,000 restoration of our magnificent 1859 (William Hill) organ has now been completed, by renowned organ builders Harrison & Harrison. Warmest thanks to all the individuals in and around Blackheath who contributed to the fundraising appeal, togther with our appreciation to the Heritage Lottery Fund for their £100,000 grant and the Dame Susan Morgan Charity for their £40,000 grant. Now help us celebrate!
The concert will feature an eclectic programme of choral and organ music. Composers include Byrd, Gibbons, Bach, Messiaen, Jean Langlais, Parry, Widor, and Rutter, and the world premiere of a new work by Sebastian Forbes.
Singers making up the 18-strong L'Inviti choir directed by David Guest are drawn from the best choral groups in Britain, including The Sixteen, the Monteverdi Choir and the Tallis Scholars. The organist is Huw Williams, Director of Music at Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace; he will play a new work by Sebastian Forbes - Prelude for organ on the chorale 'Gott der Vater wohn’ uns bei', speically commissioned by Harrison & Harrison for the All Saints' organ.
The ticket includes a glass of wine and canapes at the reception.
