  1. Jeux d'enfants, 'Children's Games' Op 22 - Georges Bizet
  2. Kindertotenlieder - Gustav Mahler
  3. Symphony No 3 in E flat, 'Eroica' Op 55 - Ludwig van Beethoven

This concert by The Doctors' Orchestra is to fundraise for The Compassionate Friends, the national charity offering peer support to parents following the death of a son or daughter. The aptly chosen programme juztaposes Bizet’s sunny portrayals of children at play with Mahler’s settings of poems written by Rückert after the death of two of his children.

Mahler’s poignant music and Rückert’s poems express deepest grief, yet offer solace. Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony ultimately affirms the heroic capacity of the human spirit to overcome even the cruellest adversity.
