  3. Carmina Burana - Carl Orff

Principal Conductor Charles Dutoit returns to direct the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme of thrilling works, including Orff’s choral masterpiece Carmina Burana. Beethoven’s Overture to his ballet The Creatures of Prometheusranges from pastoral lyricism to vibrant joie de vivre, while Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is one of the finest in the repertoire, full of warmth and vitality. Soloist Chloë Hanslip has received widespread acclaim for her precision and musical understanding, with BBC Music Magazine praising her ‘panache, poise, and laserlike accuracy’. The Philharmonia Chorus and New London Children’s Choir join the Orchestra for Orff’s Carmina Burana, a work famed for its musical pyrotechnics, but which also features moments of unexpected tenderness.
