Fron Male Voice Choir St Valentine's Day Concert

On Friday 14th February at 7.30pm, St Ambrose Church in Speke Liverpool will host a very special Valentine's Day concert. The evening will include performances from The Fron Male Voice Choir, Kathryn Rudge (mezzo-soprano) and the South Liverpool based Mersey Wave Choir. Featuring beautiful music from the world of opera and musical theatre with traditional songs of love. There will also be interval refreshments and a raffle and tombola during the evening.

Fron Male Voice Choir: The Fron Male Voice Choir was formed in 1947 to compete at the first Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Its 60 original members were drawn from the village of Fron. In 2006 the Fron Choir signed a major recording contract with Universal Music and released four 'Voices of the Valley' CDs and the 'Voices of the Valley – Live' DVD. Their first release, Voices of the Valley, went Gold a week after its launch. 67 years after its formation the choir is still going strong and has established itself internationally as one of the most distinguished male voice choirs in a nation renowned throughout the world for producing male voice choirs of the highest quality.

Kathryn Rudge: British mezzo-soprano Kathryn was featured as The Times Rising Star of Classical Music 2012 and made her professional opera debut as Cherubino in Fiona Shaw’s production of 'The Marriage of Figaro' for English National Opera in 2011, a role she has subsequently sung for Glyndebourne on Tour. She has also performed to critical acclaim with Opera North as Sesto 'Giulio Cesare' and Annio 'La Clemenza di Tito.' She has appeared in concert with orchestras throughout the UK including the RLPO in her native city of Liverpool. Kathryn performs regularly in recital and has recently given recitals at Wigmore Hall.
