Howard Alden (jazz guitar) and Jeanne Gies (vocals)

Howard began playing at age ten, inspired by recordings of Armstrong, Basie and Goodman. Soon he was working professionally around Los Angeles playing in groups ranging from traditional to mainstream to modern jazz. Upon moving to New York City in 1982, Alden’s skills, both as soloist and accompanist, were quickly recognized and sought-out for appearances and recordings with such artists as Joe Bushkin and Woody Herman. He has continued to win accolades from critics and musicians alike.

Jeanne Gies is a singer/songwriter and is much in demand across the world. Jeanne is recognised by critics and musicians of the highest caliber for her full-bodied, emotionally expressive voice and distinctive phrasing. She has performed and recorded with a stunning array of jazz greats including with her co-performer this evening, Howard Alden.
