  1. Stabat Mater - Giovanni Battista Pergolesi
  2. Jacob's Ladder - Judith Bingham
  3. The Hythe - Judith Bingham

John Armitage Memorial Trust and Red Note present the first Scottish performances of two works by Judith Bingham, as part of her 60th birthday celebrations. The Hythe was commissioned by JAM as a partner piece to her mesmerizing, Poulenc-referencing organ concerto, Jacob's Ladder.

"Thirteen minutes of high-grade music... The Hythe deserves a long happy life." The Times

Pergolesi's achingly beautiful Stabat Mater adds a soprano and a countertenor to the strings and organ. This work, first performed in 1736, is thought to be his last; this brilliant composer died in the same year, aged only 26.
