In this concert, Phantasm explores the zany world of English court composer William Lawes in two of his most daring Sets for six viols to the organ. (Expect some very surprising sounding music in some movements!) Preceding and following Lawes will be some early experimental consorts by John Jenkins along with his sonorous Bell Pavan a6 set alongside Orlando Gibbons's kaleidoscopic Fantasies for three and six viols and his ever popular variations on ‘Go from my Window’.

Phantasm, directed by Laurence Dreyfus, is consort in residence at Magdalen College, Oxford.
