Concert: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Opus A, five men singing unaccompanied and a narrator, with a sequence of the most beautiful moments from Shakespeare’s popular masque-like play placed in the context of music from Renaissance Italy and Elizabethan London with works for men’s chorus by Elgar, Schubert, and Brahms. Gordon Crosse’s wonderful ‘Spring Awakening’ - the story of Bottom's Dream - forms the musical centre of the concert, which concludes with Wilbye’s exquisite ‘Draw on sweet night’.

The afternoon performance is in a delightful and intimate domestic setting, a small Hall, and is followed by a party with supper included in the ticket.
