Vivaldi Gloria and Fauré Requiem | The Langcliffe Singers

The Langcliffe Singers will be performing two very popular works in this concert. They will sing the Vivaldi Gloria, written in about 1715, and Fauré's Requiem, the version being sung at this concert having been composed in 1893.

There is much to admire in both these contrasting works - Vivaldi demonstrating the glittering baroque period and Fauré the softer more romantic period, illustrated respectively by the magnificent opening "Gloria' of the Vivaldi and the lovely Pie Jesu and In Paradisum in the Fauré.

The venue for the concert, Christ Church Skipton, has recently been refurbished and now provides an attractive and spacious concert venue with excellent acoustics.
