For their next performance the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra will present a wonderful programme of music inspired by and in many cases written for the Royal Family in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The programme of patriotic favourites will include Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba as well as his Water Music, and Elgar’s immensely popular Pomp & Circumstance March No.1 which of course includes Land of Hope & Glory. Audience participation will very likely be invited at this stage to join in the celebrations with a Last Night of the Proms style finale! In addition to these works the Orchestra will also be performing Bliss’ Welcome to the Queen and Elgar’s Nursery Suite.

This concert is part of the 26th season for the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra which has now become well established in the local area with over 60 registered members, and has performed an incredibly wide and varied repertoire of works over the years. In addition to countless concerts at local venues throughout Hillingdon, the group has also performed at some of London’s most prestigious venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Southwark Cathedral. In July last year the group celebrated 25 years of music making at the Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square.

So why not come along to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style, for an evening of music fit for Royalty and a rousing chorus or two of Land of Hope and Glory. The concert will be led by Mackenzie Richards and conducted by the founder of the Orchestra, Peter J. Williams. For further details see: www.hillingdonphil.btck.co.uk
