  2. String Quartet No 27 in D Op 20 No 4 - (Franz) Joseph Haydn
  3. String Quartet No 8 in E minor, 'Rasumovsky' Op 59 No 2 - Ludwig van Beethoven

An exploration of the quartet repertoire as it evolved from classicism to romanticism, this series features three key works by Haydn alongside the popular Razumovsky quartets of Beethoven. It also includes Mozart's intense K.421 quartet dedicated to Haydn, Mendelssohn's very last complete work, and Schubert's ever popular, highly emotionally charged ‘Death and the Maiden' quartet.
