  1. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No 22 in E flat K482 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  2. Symphony No 7 in E - Anton Bruckner

Quicksilver inspiration and spectacular melodies flow in music written at the height of success.

Experiencing the magnificent architecture and grandeur of Bruckner’s symphonies has been compared to walking around inside a cathedral. There’s a sense of vast spaciousness and incredible scale.

The composer first heard this symphony’s serene opening theme in a dream: ‘I immediately woke up, lit a candle, and wrote it down.’ He believed it would bring him good fortune, and in fact this symphony was seventh time lucky for the lonely, misunderstood composer, who finally had a hit on his hands.

Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 22 was written in 1785, a golden year for the composer, which resulted in a spate of masterworks.

Natalie Stutzmann has a passion for Bruckner and the LSO brings rigour and energy to the composer’s reality-bending Seventh. Leif Ove Andsnes has previously dedicated an album to Mozart’s 29th year. Here he illuminates the composer’s powers of musical storytelling.
