For their Autumn concert, Epsom Choral Society will be singing Mendelssohn's Elijah. First performed in 1846 at Birmingham Town Hall, Mendelssohn's Elijah is widely regarded as one of the greatest oratorios of the romantic era. Inspired by the biblical account of the prophet Elijah, the oratorio was composed in the spirit of Mendelssohn's baroque predecessors, Bach and Handel.
