JS Bach was fascinated by numbers and patterns. In the 125th anniversary year of Lewis Carroll’s death, Fiori venture through the looking glass to explore the hidden maths behind Bach’s sublime music. In his monumental Musical Offering, composed at the end of his life for King Frederick the Great, Bach requires the musicians to seek out the solutions to his cryptically notated mirror canons.

Even the venue for this concert is a beautiful, secret, historic gem, tucked away in the Northamptonshire countryside, with splendid 17th century monuments to the Chauncey family.

Fiori’s key players Kerstin Linder-Dewan, Eva Caballero and Poppy Walshaw reveal some of the mathematical riddles and symbolism behind the musical artistry of this extraordinary man, who even used the letters of his name, B-A-C-H, as a musical motif.
