Formed in 1921, The City of Birmingham Choir are performing their centenary concert (albeit a year later due to covid!) with a programme of works from Ralph Vaughan Williams which also acknowledges this wonderful composers 150th anniversary. First, the exquisite orchestral miniature, Fantasia on Greensleeves, followed by the stirring Benedicite, scored for choir, orchestra and soprano soloist. Then, the outstanding ‘A Sea Symphony’ RVW’S first, and most loved choral symphony, where the choir is an integral part of the musical texture throughout this moving and dramatic piece.

The choir are thrilled to finally be able to perform A Sea Symphony, scored by one of Britian's most loved composers which has formed part of their repartoire for many years. There will be a drinks receeption after the concert to celebrate the choir's 100 years of providing Birmingham and the wider Midlands with great choral music.
