Nathaniel Mander presents a programme to include virtuosic variations and grounds by William Byrd and Thomas Tomkins, suites by Henry Purcell and William Croft, Handel’s best loved harpsichord suite and a dazzling sonata by JC Bach. His recital forms part of Musica Deo Sacra, Tewkesbury Abbey's festival of music within the liturgy.
Nathaniel Mander is a harpsichordist and fortepianist whose performances have taken him throughout the UK, Europe and to the United States and South America.
Nathaniel studied initially with Richard Lester before moving to London to train with Carole Cerasi at the Royal Academy of Music. He graduated with first class honours and took first prize at both the Early Keyboard Ensemble Competition at Fenton House and the Broadwood Solo Harpsichord competition. He was appointed Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music for 2 consecutive years after which he spent time in Paris and Rome in order to take lessons with Elisabéth Joyé, Skip Sempe, Pierre Hantai and Béatrice Martin.
Nathaniel now pursues a varied career as a performer, recording artist and teacher.
In 2021 Nathaniel was invited to join the French baroque orchestra Les Musiciens du Louvre for their all-Rameau programme directed by Marc Minkowski. Most recently he was asked to join them for a production of Rameau’s Platée at the Palais Garnier in Paris.
His debut CD is a recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations recently released on ICSM Records.
