This concert consists entirely of settings of the poetry of WH Auden. The centrepiece is an exclusive new commission for the Elysian Singers: ‘Timepieces’ by Ian Stephens, for choir and alto saxophone. The concert also includes a variety of works by international 20th century composers including Rudolf Escher and Hans Vogt (both Dutch) and Antonin Tucapsky (Czech), along with some English choral favourites: Britten’s ‘Hymn to St Cecilia’ and Walton’s ‘The Twelve.’
