For their second concert the Jubilee String Quartet begin with Beethoven’s first quartet, the opening number in his opus 18 group. They follow this with a one-movement piece by Webern inspired by a romantic walk in the forest.

Dvorák returned to several of his early songs in later life and made arrangements of them for string quartet; the concert will include a selection from the group. It will end with Mendelssohn’s quartet in A minor, an early work written when he was only eighteen. It is a dramatic piece, full of a young man’s energy and passion.
