  1. Petite messe solennelle, for chorus, piano and accordion - Gioachino Rossini

Come and hear Birmingham Festival Choral Society sing this uplifting work, written by Rossini for private performance at one of his renowned Paris musical salons.

A special feature of our concert is that the accompaniment will be provided by piano and accordion, which was suggested by Rossini himself as an alternative to piano and harmonium.

The Petite messe solennelle was Rossini’s last major composition and his operatic melodies, colour, and drama shine through to make this one of the most popular works in the choral repertoire.
