  1. Sinfonia in C - Marianna Martines
  2. Berenice, che fai? - Marianna Martines
  3. Symphony No 43 in E flat, 'Mercury' - (Franz) Joseph Haydn

Join Opera dei Lumi as they explore the music of Marianna Martines (also known as Marianna von Martinez), a prolific and widely recognised musician and composer based in Vienna in the late 18th century. Martines lived in the same apartment building on the Michaelerplatz, Vienna, as Haydn and was a close personal friend of the celebrated librettist Pietro Metastasio.

We will hear Martines' dramatic setting of Metastasio's famous 'Berenice, che fai?', a text also set by Haydn, Paisiello, Gluck and Jommelli, amongst others, and her vivacious Sinfonia in C. Haydn's Mercury Symphony will close the evening.
