Long associated with choirs in Cambridge and London, Geoffrey Webber brings us a wide-ranging programme beginning with Domenico Zipoli, a contemporary of Bach and Handel who worked in South America. Then it’s Whitlock in church-organist guise, with his wide ranging musical commentary on the Psalms ending with his joyful Exultemus.

Richard Strauss is revered as a composer for voices, and his glorious and complex Deutsche Motette has been described as a virtuoso concerto for choir. This massive multi-textured romantic piece here presented on the romantic organ and to be given its first performance at the Albert Hall. Finally three pieces by Louis Vierne, inspired by his American tour of 1927.We are to hear the capricious Impromptu, the utterly mysterious, not to say ghostly, Fantômes, and finally the well-known Carillon de Westminster.
