  1. Sonata for violin and piano No 3 in E minor, 'Epica' Op 57 - Nikolay Karlovich Medtner
  2. Sonata for vola and piano in D minor - Mikhail Glinka

This event will be recorded in our 18th century home, ‘premiered’ online on 2 March, and then will be available to watch on demand using the same ticket for one week (one month for Festival Pass holders).

Two rarely performed gems of the Russian chamber music: Mikhail Glinka’s unfinished viola and piano sonata in two movements, a rare work for the viola of the time, and Nikolai Medtner’s third and grandest violin sonata, which he composed in London.

This concert is part of Pushkin House Russian Music Festival 2021 with all concerts recorded in our 18th century home, ‘premiered’ online then available to watch on demand. The rare programme of the Festival can be enjoyed through a festival pass or through booking individual concert tickets. The Festival Pass gives you access to all the concerts and events being premiered between 2 and 14 March 2021, for one month after the premiere date. Individual ticket holders will be able to access the concert and content on demand for once week from the premiere date.

Early Bird Festival Pass £75 available until 15 February; thereafter £97. The pass includes an exclusive talk and Q&A on Russian Chamber Music with Philip Ross Bullock, professor of Russian Literature and Music at the University of Oxford and Alexander Karpeyev, the Pushkin House Music Festival artistic director.
