Internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, Stile Antico, presents a festive selection of stunning renaissance polyphony, complemented by contemporaneous poetry for Advent and Christmas.

This year the challenges of covid-19 have limited the way we can mark and celebrate the festive season. To provide musical and spiritual sustenance in these uncertain times Stile Antico presents a unique and beautiful sequence inspired by the traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols. Masterpieces by some of the finest composers of the Renaissance alternate with intimate, metaphysical verse by poets such as John Donne and George Herbert. A veritable feast of words and music, culminating in John Sheppard’s spectacular setting of Verbum Caro.

St Mary Abbots Church has created a Covid-safe environment. Seating will be in household bubbles, socially-distanced. The performance will last for an hour, without any interval.

Audience space is limited; early booking is advised.
