  1. The Snowman (film screening with live orchestral accompaniment) - Howard Blake
  2. Just So Stories - Louis Mander
  3. The Gruffalo - Philip Mackenzie

We are delighted to announce the world premiere of a new adaptation of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. This magical book has been re-worked into an enchanting piece for narrator and orchestra by Philip Mackenzie. In the manner of Peter and the Wolf, each character in the tale is represented by a different instrument of the orchestra – any guesses what the Gruffalo will be played by?

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without The Snowman and what better way to see this iconic film than with a live symphony orchestra providing the soundtrack and guest soloist, eleven-year-old Alice Mackenzie singing ‘Walking in the air’?

Louis Mander and Mark Webber have teamed up to create a hilarious brand new work based on Kipling’s Just So Stories as a way of introducing children to the sounds of an orchestra.

The perfect Christmas treat for all the family!

This concert will be repeated at 15.30 and 18.00 and then on 22nd December at 11.00, 13.30 and 16.00.
