  1. Introduction and Variations on 'Trockne Blumen' from 'Die schöne Müllerin', for flute and piano D 802 - Franz Schubert
  2. Serenade for flute, violin and viola in D Op 25 - Ludwig van Beethoven
  3. Piano Quartet No 1 in G minor Op 25 - Johannes Brahms

Trockne Blumen (Faded Flowers) is one of the songs in Schubert’s song-cycle Die Schöne Müllerin, and these variations are based on the same melody. A brilliant tour de force, they require virtuosity from both flute and piano. Beethoven’s Serenade is a charming piece, while Brahms demonstrates in his grand G minor piano quartet that he, like Haydn and Beethoven before him, was captivated by traditional folk music.
