  1. Fantastické Scherzo Op 25 - Josef Suk
  2. Symphony No 7 in C Op 105 - Jean Sibelius
  3. Harold en Italie Op 16 - Hector Berlioz

Josef Suk's Scherzo Fantastique is all too infrequently played, but it's lively and quirky and a brilliant opener for a concert.

Sibelius's 7th Symphony is sometimes said to be his finest work. Written as a single unified movement, it encompasses a wide range of expression through continuosly changing tempo and texture.

Berlioz wrote Harold in Italy initially at the request of the virtuoso violinist Niccolo Paganini who had just acquired a Stradivarius viola but had no suitable music to play on it. Written in the style of a symphony with 4 distinct movements, it uses the solo viola to represent the central character of Harold as he journeys through a series of poetic memories.
